About Tara

After obtaining my diploma in Interior Design from Mount Royal College in Calgary, my career has been focused on residential interiors. Having spent 15 years in the home building industry, I have helped hundreds of clients through the process of selecting finishes for their new homes and have created interiors for well over one hundred show homes. (Exactly how many? I’m not sure - I lost count after a while!)

In 2024, I started my YouTube channel, Tara Talks Design, where I share my interior design insights with fellow design enthusiasts. My goal is to provide viewers with original ideas and inspiration that go beyond the basics and tap into something truly special and unique.

My design philosophy is centered around the belief that a home should be a reflection of the people who inhabit it - spaces that feel as though they have evolved organically over time and are filled with well-loved pieces that hold meaning. Interiors should bring comfort as well as joy, spark creativity, and feel deeply personal. It’s about listening to your instincts and doing what feels right. The goal is authenticity rather than perfection. Perfection is boring!
